Semaglutide is a safe, doctor-prescribed GLP-1 medication that’s prescribed under the brand names Wegovy®, Ozempic®, and Rybelsus®. It is a once weekly in home injection.

Semaglutide - GLP 1

This is a peptide produced in the gut and is released in response to food. It causes reduced appetite and insulin release.

It is safe and effective with many pre existing conditions but is contraindicated with the following:

  • Pregnancy or plan for pregnancy within a year

  • Breast feeding

  • Active eating disorder

  • Currently being treated for cancer

  • Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent)

  • Active Gall Bladder disease

  • Active substance abuse or dependency

  • Pancreatitis - within the past 6 months or as a result of GLP 1 medications

  • Bariatric surgery in the past 6 months

  • History of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN syndrome (multiple endocrine neoplasia)
